The main home, Hale Koolau, is a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom getaway drenched in natural light and boasts an expansive, wraparound lanai, perfect for indoor/outdoor living. The master bedroom has a California King-size bed and en suite bathroom with a stone shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed. The large, third bedroom aka the bunk room is separate from the main house and can sleep up to nine guests and has an attached bathroom.
Hale Koolau's outdoor shower refreshes you after a day of hiking the cliffs of the Na Pali coast or an afternoon of swimming in the blue Pacific Ocean. Relax on the lanai, where views of emerald green mountains constantly remind you of the appeal of island life.
Canopied in tropical foliage is Hale Koolau Treehouse, the second home on the estate. Vacation like you’re living among the treetops in a charming and bright, one-bedroom/one-bath house on Kauai’s north shore. The Treehouse is complete with all amenities including Air Conditioning.

Paradise in Kauai

Enjoyed our annual family retreat (15 of us) for a week at Hale Ko'olau (used the main house and the tree house). Everything was wonderful. Ke'e, Tunnels, Hanalei, Lydgate, Kalihiwai, Kilauea, just WOW. The estate was perfect for us (and the grandkids especially enjoyed the large grassy area and the underneath part of the house. All the beach gear was a welcome surprise, too! Wifi worked well. AC worked well. Private yet located in a wonderful neighborhood. Makana Kauai staff were VERY helpful and responsive. Nothing but 100% praise from this very grateful family. Aloha and Mahalo!

Family Kauai Thanksgiving Vacation

We had a wonderful time in a beautiful home that perfectly fit the needs of our 13 member family. We were near the ocean with a great view of the mountains. It had everything we needed for our beach excursions and our family needs. The home was exactly as described, clean and very well maintained. Perfect home for large group

This home was perfect for 6adults and 7 kids. The bunk house is separate from the main house and tree house. Everyone had ample space to enjoy. The kitchen was very well supplied for a large group. The grounds were beautiful and great to let the kids play in. Very quiet and secure.

Hawaiian beauty

We hosted a womens retreat here and it fit our needs well. The location is beautiful, a two minute walk to the beach, and close to some of the islands best hiking trails. The tree house was adorable and the multiple kitchens onsite was such a nice feature of the home. The only thing that was a annoyance was that both houses have great AC but the bunk room

It's been a month since our trip to Kauai and not a day goes by that we don't think about returning to this lovely home in this lovely part of the world.
The property and its management staff were excellent. Our 3 families stayed comfortably and enjoyed the incredible beaches within walking distance and relatively easy drive to great food options nearby.

Wonderful home in a great location

This place is wonderful, all the way around. The location is great, nestled in a beautiful neighborhood with dramatic mountain views and a short walk to a beautiful beach. The homes very comfortably slept 12 of us and the outdoor spaces are on the property are great for family and game activities. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Awesome Place for Family Vacation

Hale Ko'olau is MAGICAL inside and out! Perfect for our family and walking distance to Tunnels Beach. This is the most beautiful location in the world. We love this beautiful estate and would return in a heartbeat. The check-in and check-out process was easy and the Makana Properties team was very helpful and friendly. Honestly our trip could not have been more perfect.

Beautiful space for our large group

Honestly the photos of this property do not do this property enough justice. We rented the main house and the treehouse unit for our large group of 13. It was clean, spacious, and beautifully designed. Beach towels, snorkel masks, fins, coolers, beach umbrellas were included. Makana Properties were very responsive and answered all questions I had promptly. They sent detailed instructions which made check in and check out very easy. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this estate!

The most Magnificent place

This property is even more beautiful in person. The location is absolutely breathtaking with the mountains in view. Being able to walk to the beach and spend time outside on the grass felt so nice. We loved every minute here and were so sad to leave. It held a large group of us very comfortably. The space had everything we needed and more. Every detail has been carefully thought out here. It truly does feel like a home away from home. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for the most magical place on north shore.
