The Hanalei Center features a quaint and historic charm, with its shops contained in refurbished historical structures, including a schoolhouse. Shops include local and unique boutiques, art galleries, a yoga studio, and grocery store. You can find a variety of items from surf gear, to clothing for men, women and children, to 1940s and ‘50s memorabilia, and even home furnishings. Many of the stores are locally owned and focus on Hawaiian items. Restaurants and snack bars provide coffee, sandwiches, burgers, and most importantly, shave ice.

Located in historic Hanalei, Ching Young Village features several unique and exotic gift shops along with a grocery and natural food store. In proper Hawaiian style, this outdoor shopping center is not enclosed under a main roof, and you can enjoy the warm tropical breeze as you browse the shops. The Kong Lung Historic Market Center preserves the charm of the original village built to support the Kilauea Sugar Plantation. Housed inside the historic buildings, you will find an array of exotic shops. Other shops sell unique housewares, much with an Asian or Pacific theme, which can be shipped directly to your home, wherever that may be. One of the island’s largest shopping centers, Kukui Grove Shopping Center features a modern open courtyard and boasts such non-shopping distractions as miniature golf, weekly Polynesian entertainments, and live music and dancing on weekends. Dozens of shops ranging from well-known staples like Macy’s and CVS to local specialty shops offer nearly anything you could want or need. You’ll also discover a good selection of restaurants, ideal for grabbing a quick bite or stopping for a relaxing lunch or dinner. In addition, a farmer’s market is held every Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. Centrally located in Lihue, the shopping center is just a short drive from any side of the island and popular with both locals and visitors.

The near shore shopping center located in sunny Poipu is a mix of elegance, with its art galleries and boutiques. and re-created history, with its plantation-inspired architecture. Fashion and local gifts are available in The Shops’ many boutiques, and paintings, island inspired photography, and Koa furniture can be found in the half-dozen fine art galleries. Surf shops, men and women’s clothing, resort wear, and a gourmet grocery shop round out the retail offerings here. Dining options range from high-end steak to burgers. The Shops at Kukuiula are perfect for finding the beautiful unique gift or a relaxed afternoon of window shopping while enjoying a shave ice or ice cream.

On the first Saturday of the month, local artists and crafters gather for Kapa`a Art Night where they line the streets with booths featuring their wares. Locally crafted jewelry, paintings, decor and other crafts are available, along with the opportunity to meet the artists.
