Princeville Makai Golf Club
The renowned Makai Golf course, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, underwent a multi-million dollar renovation completed in 2010 and is among the best the island has to offer. National Geographic Traveler awarded it a spot in the list of America’s “Top 5 Great Golf Settings”. Winding around native woodlands, serene lakes, and the spectacular north shore coastline the signature course features world class views of Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay as you play. For the casual golfer, a 9-hole Woods Course provides a leisurely outing among native woodlands and Princeville neighborhoods.
Po’ipu Bay Course
Famous for hosting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from ‘94-06 this Robert Trent Jones Jr. course boasts sunny untouched landscapes and cliff views on the final four holes that are reminiscent of Pebble Beach. Besides the standard bunkers and water hazards, golfers are also challenged with play restrictions around several historical Hawaiian heiau (places of worship) and occasional interference from native nene geese.
Hokuala Golf Club
Featuring the only Jack Nicklaus signature experience on Kaua’i, this 18-hole course has been ranked amongst the best and most beautiful courses in Hawai’i. With the longest stretch of oceanfront holes in all of Hawai’i, there is no shortage of stunning scenery and challenging golf. For kids of all ages, there is also a 3 hole barefoot short course. It is conveniently located within 7 minutes of Lihu’e airport, Hokuala is convenient from both the east and west side of the island.
Puakea Golf Course
Puakea is a daily fee golf course open to the public. Built on 200 acres of a former sugar cane planation, this resort quality course designed by architect Robin Nelson was originally only 9 holes. In the first half of 2003, it was temporarily closed for construction to re-open as an 18-hole course with a new driving range, short-game practice area, and putting green. The par 3’s shine throughout this course that is situated in Lihu’e at the base of the Ha’upu Ridge.
